BREAKING: DR AYOADE ADEWOPO DEFECTS TO APC.
In less than 38 days to the gubernatorial election in osun state. A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party from ile-ife, a one time aspirant in the 2018 gubernatorial election, and aspirant in the 2021 House of Representatives for ife Federal constituency has formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The HERALDERTIMES correspondence learnt that Adewopo was spotted with his supporters in the ongoing special convention of the All Progressive Congress holding at Eagles Square in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
It was gathered that he was officially welcomed to the progressives fold by men of timbre and calibre among which were the Governor, His Excellency Alh. Gboyega Oyetola, the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Benedict Adegboyega, the National Secretary of the APC Sen. Christopher Iyiola Omisore, the State Chairman, Hon Famodun, Sooko Adewoyin, Hon. Albert Abiodun Adeogun, State Deputy Chairman, Hon. Tajudeen lawal, the State Subeb Chairman, Hon. Famurewa, Hon. Benjamin Adereti, Hon. Akinwale Safiriyu Omilaj, Hon. Olabisi Oladosu, Hon Segun Fanibe, Hon. Lekan Badmus and other notable leaders of the APC.
Sources close to the Ile-Ife born financial expert and lawyer revealed further that, barring this last minute development his teeming supporters across Osun State will be incorporated into the progressives fold to further contribute his electoral numeric strength to the APC.
Our correspondence spoke with one of his aides, Mr Eni Emmanuel as to why his principal suddenly left the Peoples Democratic Party. “He said, we are the ones that have proven our loyalty to the party, the party have not reciprocate this gesture to us. With the plethora of information at my disposal PDP is on the path of self destruction in osun state. No doubt! I must tell you this, there are some crops of leaders in the party that are so terrible and so dishonest, vindictive, unreliable and have traded the party for ransom at some front. Unbeknownst to their followers, Some of them are APC at night, while they are PDP in the daylight. They have traded the party, and I don’t see any hope in their midst.
“As you can see, just look at the array of leaders in the APC that gave my principal a rousing welcome. It shows they hold him in high-esteem, value his wealth of experience and his political presence. We have put our hands on the wheeling plough of the progressive party, and there’s no going back” He further stated.
This is a challenging time for the Peoples Democratic Party in osun state, owing to the zone where these defectors hailed from. However, this is a welcoming development and a huge plus to the APC in a zone they had been labouring all years to increase the electoral fortunes of the party.
The HERALDERTIMES was unable to interview Dr Ayoade Adewopo, but all hands are on deck to bring him live on air in order to unveil what might have triggered his decision.
