Buhari Architect of Your Suffering Not Tinubu — Oshiomhole Tells Nigerians

Nigeria is still grappling with the repercussions of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies, asserted Adams Oshiomhole, the senator representing Edo North Senatorial District.

Oshiomhole, in an interview on Channels TV, addressed the challenges faced by Nigerians, particularly citing the adverse effects of the removal of the petrol subsidy under the President Bola Tinubu-led government, which significantly escalated fuel prices.

Despite public discontent, President Tinubu has consistently reassured citizens, likening the prevailing hardships to the temporary pains of childbirth.

During the interview, Oshiomhole emphasized that President Tinubu should not be held accountable for the decisions made by the previous administration, led by Buhari. He underscored his commitment to prioritizing national interests over partisan considerations.

Expressing his disapproval of Buhari’s policies, Oshiomhole stated, “My first loyalty is to Nigeria. Before the last president left office, I lamented loudly what I saw as reckless policies that were designed to dehumanize the population that was already in pain.”

Highlighting his dissent, he added, “There were governors who approached the court to denounce some of those policies. It is the long-term consequences of those policies that we are still grappling with now.”

Addressing Tinubu’s role, Oshiomhole clarified that although the ruling party was in power during the previous administration, Tinubu was neither a cabinet member nor an adviser. “He never took a contract in that government, and he cannot be held responsible for what the government did right or wrong,” Oshiomhole concluded.
