Gov. Bala Mohammed Endorses Jonathan for Future Presidential Bid

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed his confidence in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s ability to excel should he decide to pursue a future presidential role. Mohammed emphasized Jonathan’s significant contributions and reforms during his presidency.

Governor Mohammed praised the achievements of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), especially those of President Olusegun Obasanjo, in areas such as telecommunications, agriculture, and infrastructure, noting the lasting impact on the northeastern region’s infrastructure.

This endorsement from Governor Mohammed came in response to a call from a non-governmental organization for him to consider a presidential run in 2027. The organization honored him with the title of “Champion of Peace, Unity, and Development.” Mohammed expressed openness to leadership roles, clarifying that his potential candidacy hinges on Jonathan’s decision to run.

“With regard to your call for me to present myself, I am still contemplating my chances as the leader of the opposition. I know there are good leaders within the PDP, especially my boss Goodluck Jonathan,” he stated.

Governor Mohammed emphasized Jonathan’s inclusive approach and initiatives like addressing the Almajiri system and creating opportunities for unemployed youths as reasons why Jonathan would be a better leader. He also addressed recent criticisms of President Tinubu, asserting that his critiques are part of his responsibility to advise the Federal Government.

Mohammed urged President Tinubu to address current challenges, cautioning that failure to do so could lead to the PDP regaining power in future elections. He concluded by reiterating the importance of effective governance in earning the public’s trust.
