‘He’s Not Superman’ — Onanuga Defends Tinubu After Slip During Presidential Parade.
Bayo Onanuga, special adviser on information and strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has defended the president after he slipped during a parade at Eagles Square in Abuja. On Wednesday, Tinubu momentarily lost his footing while climbing a parade vehicle but quickly regained his balance with the help of his aide-de-camp (ADC).
The incident has sparked widespread reactions on social media, prompting Onanuga to address the issue. In a post on his X page, Onanuga emphasized that President Tinubu is human and prone to occasional slips, just like anyone else. He cited examples of other leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama, who have also experienced similar incidents.
“President Tinubu is not a Superman. He is human like all of us. President Biden has had several slips in the last three years. Even the younger Barack Obama slipped while President,” Onanuga wrote. “Political leaders are human. Slipping should not detract from the importance of the Democracy Day celebration.”
Echoing this sentiment, Olusegun Dada, special assistant to Tinubu on social media, assured the public that there are no health concerns regarding the president. Dada clarified that Tinubu simply missed his step and is perfectly fine.
As reactions continue to pour in, Onanuga urges Nigerians to focus on the significance of Democracy Day rather than the president’s brief stumble.
