JUST IN: LAOSHO PROJECTS FACILITATED BY SENATOR ORJI UZOR KALU
No community develops without the presence of basic amenities— Says Dr. MICHAEL AKINTOMIDE
In the wake of allocating and implementing constituency projects across the geographical space in the country, HERALDERSTIMES got wind of the reports that the Nigerian Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu representing the good people of Abia North Senatorial District has extended his hand of fellowship to the good people of Ondo west LG, in Ondo State.
HERALDERSTIMES gathered that an Ondo born erudite physician and ardent loyalist of Hon. Abiola Makinde, Dr. Michael Akintomide Ajilo, has facilitated through the office of the Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the construction of two blocks of classroom and a motorized borehole at Laosho community in Ondo west local government. This pragmatic exemplification of true federalism by the senate chief whip is worthy of note. It is a rare quality that is only present in a transformational leader.
As you would agree with me that it is not very uncommon for representatives to influence the location of projects in their domain. At best, they will ensure the projects are situated in the regions they represent. But this is not the case with the former governor of Abia state. His boundless patriotic spirit and quality of leadership has made it possible for the good people of Laosho community in Ondo West LG of the Sunshine State to further enjoy the dividend of democracy.
Speaking via a telephone conversation with Barrister Emeka Nwala, the Chief of Staff to the Chief Whip of the Senate he confirmed the latest development to this news channel.
In his words ” I have it on good authority to confirm what you have just enquired about those projects. They will commence forthwith at Laosho in Ondo West Local Government. No doubt about it! As I speak to you, all paperwork to see to the reality of the projects has been duly accented to”
“Without any further ado, the construction of the two blocks of classrooms and that of the motorized borehole will commence in earnest, hence contractors have been deployed for on-site inspection and I can assure you the office of the Senate Chief Whip as led by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu will monitor the project to completion,” he stated.
In a related development, the facilitator of those projects in person of Dr. Michael Akintomide Ajilo, also gave his views to this news channel when asked, what motivated him to have facilitated the projects.
Responding, he said, “Education is light. A conducive environment for learning is fertilizer for producing good students and teachers. As for the motorized borehole, if you take a keen assessment of dwellers in Laosho, they are heterogeneous population living within the lower hierarchy of the social stratification of life. Their access to portable water has been observed to be limited. You can imagine, when dwellers of the community still must access stream and stagnated earthly pool, before they could get water for domestic use and drinking. Thereafter, presenting in the Hospital on account of typhoid fever, diarrhea, schistosomiasis, etc.”
“More importantly, I draw strength from my leader, Hon. Abiola Makinde, Honourable member representing Ondo Federal Constituency. He has always motivated me in every aspect of life especially in good governance. I am following his footsteps, charting a good course for our people. If you were able to traverse the geographical space of Ondo West & East, you would see arrays of physical infrastructures and evidence of empowerment brought to fore by Hon. Abiola Makinde. He is indeed people’s true representative” Dr Akintomide further established.
“To contribute my quota to the Ondo kingdom development in addition to what Hon. Abiola Makinde is doing, it is important I use my privilege and position to facilitate the construction of blocks of classroom and a motorized borehole for our people in Laosho community”.
“This would bring conducive atmosphere for the students to learn and the teachers to teach. While the borehole will avail dwellers in the community the access to portable water supply.” Dr Akintomide said.
Still in our conversation with him, Dr Akintomide eulogies senator Orji Uzor Kalu for being the most detribalized Nigerian he has come to know. He further also relayed his profound appreciation to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who in his magnanimity and capacity has counted the good people of Ondo worthy of the projects, which will go a long way in benefiting our people. “Still in the spirit of appreciation, he said “I would also like to say a big thank you to my leader, Hon. Abiola Makinde, for his advice and guidance at all times. Together we shall make Ondo great and be a place of pride,” as he eloquently submitted.
