JUST IN: NAF Reportedly Bombed Religious Worshippers in Kaduna.
In a shocking incident reported by social activist and former federal lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani, scores of worshippers celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad were allegedly killed in an aerial bombardment by the Nigerian Air Force. The tragic event unfolded in Tundun Biri, located in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Senator Shehu Sani, posting on his verified X profile, urged clarification from the Nigerian Air Force and the Defense Information Nigeria. He stated, “Scores of people were killed yesterday by aerial bombardment during a religious festival in a village near the Kaduna Airport.”
The official response from the Nigerian Air Force is yet to be issued regarding the allegations.
Nura MC Khan, claiming to be a resident of the affected community, also confirmed the incident on Instagram, lamenting the loss of lives during the Prophet’s birthday celebration.
This unfortunate event is not the first of its kind, as previous incidents of civilian casualties during aerial bombardments have been reported in Nigeria. In July 2022, a fighter jet targeted Kunkuna village in Katsina State, resulting in casualties. Additionally, past instances include a military jet mistakenly bombing a compound during a child christening in 2020 and a tragic incident in April 2021 when a fighter jet aimed at Boko Haram extremists inadvertently killed over 20 Nigerian Army officers.
The community of Tundun Biri now mourns, with the number of casualties still unknown. Calls for clarification and investigation into the incident are gaining momentum, demanding accountability for the loss of innocent lives during a religious celebration.
