JUST IN: President Tinubu Summons Interior minister, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo
Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has been summoned to the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock by President Bola Tinubu.
It has been reliably gathered that the Minister of Interior is billed to meet the President by an afternoon of today.
The summon follows the controversy that has hitched the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the award of a consultancy contract to the tune of N438 million, for the National Social Register to New New Planet Projects Ltd, a company he is a beneficial owner.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, was suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu on Monday for financial irregularities and mismanagement of public funds.
The Aso Rock meeting is anticipated to shed light on the details of the transaction, the contractual relationship between the company and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the role Minister Tunji-Ojo played, if any, in facilitating the payment.
As the controversy unfolds, stakeholders, including members of the public and political analysts, eagerly await the outcome of the meeting between President Tinubu and Minister Tunji-Ojo. The incident has the potential to impact public perception of the government’s commitment to accountability and its stance on ensuring that public funds are used judiciously.
