JUST IN: Rivers imbroglio; Court Restrains Amaewhule-led members as  State Assembly.

A Rivers state High Court, presided over by Hon. Justice Charles N. Wali, has restrained lawmakers in the state loyal to the Minister of FCT, Hon. Barr Nyesom Wike from parading themselves as members of the state House of Assembly.

The court, through an interim injunction, has restrained Martin Amaewhule and his associates from presenting themselves as members of the legislative body. They are specifically prohibited from convening at the Assembly’s Auditorium situated off Aba Road, Port Harcourt, or any other venue, to engage in legislative activities.

This legal action follows the declaration of their legislative seats as vacant, pending the resolution of a Motion on Notice.

Hon. Justice Charles N. Wali emphasized the importance of upholding the integrity and sanctity of the legislative process pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
