JUST IN: Zamfara Governorship Election Declared Inconclusive by Court of Appeal; Rerun Ordered in Three LGAs

The Court of Appeal in Abuja delivered a significant ruling on Thursday, declaring the Zamfara State Governorship Election as inconclusive. In a decisive move, the court directed a rerun in three pivotal Local Government Areas (LGAs) – Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukyun.

The court’s decision stemmed from the assertion that the Zamfara State Election Petitions Tribunal failed to thoroughly consider the evidence presented by the appellants, the All Progressives Congress (APC). This development raises questions about the due diligence exercised during the initial tribunal proceedings.

Notably, the Court of Appeal went further to dismiss the election results provided by both the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for Maradun Local Government, adding another layer of complexity to the electoral landscape in Zamfara State.

This ruling is poised to have significant implications for the political dynamics in the state, setting the stage for a closely watched rerun in the specified LGAs. As stakeholders await further developments, the uncertainty surrounding Zamfara’s gubernatorial outcome persists, highlighting the delicate nature of electoral processes and the critical role played by the judiciary in ensuring their integrity.
