‘No Regrets Supporting Tinubu Against Atiku’ – Wike

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, has restated his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Saturday, Wike said he has no regrets supporting Tinubu against the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The minister and former Rivers State governor noted that his decision was based on the belief that it was the turn of the South to produce the next president of Nigeria.

“I stand for it. I have no regret at all and that is why I will continue to support the government of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu,” Wike announced.

“I have no regrets when I stood by with my colleagues and friends that the presidency must go to the south,” the minister said.

“There was nothing I was not offered. But I said no. That is why I will continue to support the government of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. As I am going back home, I am going with the satisfaction that my friend is back.”

HeraldersTimes reports that Wike lost the PDP presidential ticket to Atiku during the party primary which took place at the National Stadium.

Wike fell out with the PDP leadership under the chairmanship of Dr Iyorchia Ayu.

The former Rivers governor mobilized four of his colleagues to form a protestant group within the APC.

Pundits say the emergence of Wike’s G-5 governors played a role in Atiku’s defeat at the 2023 polls.
