POLITICS: OSUN STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY RATIFIES BARRISTER OLUWOLE JIMI-BADA’S NOMINATION AS ATTORNEY GENERAL AND COMMISSIONER FOR JUSTICE .
The Osun State House of Assembly under the Speakership of Rt. Hon Adewale Egbedun has concluded the screening exercise of Commissioner nominees presented by Governor Adeleke.
Recall that earlier—barely a week ago or thereabouts—the Governor of Osun State Sen. Ademola Adeleke had sent names of commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for ratification.
And after these integrity and capacity checks, it is interesting to inform you that among the ratified nominees yesterday was Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada, Principal Partner (Wole Jimi-Bada & co).
Prior to the confirmation, he Barrister Bada, and other commissioner nominees had appeared for screening before series of committees and at different levels, and the various reports submitted to the House.
According to a source available to HeraldersTimes within the Osun State House of Assembly, Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada, was found by these committees of the House to be a Man of noble pedigree with proven integrity.
The source revealed further that his antecedents in various areas of human endeavour, and of course, coupled with his capability from a legal standpoint are a testament to his ratification. And bringing such into office will earn Osun State a more dignified status in the administration of the State’s justice system.
The source waxed unequivocal with these words, “Having satisfied members of the House with their responses, he was cleared, confirmed and ratified. Assuredly, he would be assigned portfolio on qualification, expertise and capability.”
Now standing triumphantly and sounding deeply insightful after the ratification, he spoke shortly with newsmen. Barrister Bada described the screening process to have gone well and capped it up by saying that “the exercise was engaging, but I must say it was worthwhile.”
Fielding questions from the press later, he was asked, perhaps, if he would tow the part of previous Attorneys General and occupants of the exalted office who stayed in office without appearing in court. And picking it right away, he responded, ” My kind of Attorney General will go to court. I will not be a kind of sit-at-home or sit-in-the office Attorney General. On assumption of office, I will improve the welfare of all my lawyers, I will also make sure that criminal prosecution is done expeditiously.”
Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada maintained further that they would work, “as a team, as a family in the State Ministry of Justice. I will provide a working atmosphere where all and sundry will be carried along”
” There will not be anything called faction in the Ministry of Justice during my time. It will be a nice experience for everybody under the same family umbrella,” he emphasized.
To conclude, he looked back home, exhilarated, fulfilled and appreciative, but with a promise to Ile-Ife, the Source. He said, “I’m proud that I hailed from Ife. And to my People at home, by the Grace of God I will be a good ambassador of Ife.”
One of the opinion and other leaders of thought that graced the screening exercise with the intention of rejoicing with Barrister Bada is Sooko Sunday Adewole, who described the screening exercise as timely, credible and transparent. He also posited that with the current crop of commissioner nominees that were confirmed that there is hope. ” I can tell you, there is a better horizon for the State”
Also, speaking with HeraldersTimes correspondent is Town-Planner Samson Adelugba. He shared his views on this channel on the report making the rounds in some sections of the media that Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada is not a partyman, as such, he ought not to have been considered to serve in any political capacity.
In his response TPL Adelugba said, ” It is laughable and so unfortunate for some people to fly such narratives around. If I may ask, how do you define a partyman? Let me educate such minds. You see, when it comes to political party affairs, there are several ways in which an individual could contribute his or her quota to the development of his party.”
He stressed further by saying that some people play covert roles in the party, i.e, without making noise about it. “It is not when an individual does not present himself or herself at the party secretariat or meetings, or moving from one leader’s house to the other that you conclude by saying that such an individual is not a party person. No I don’t allude to such inverted disposition.”
“Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada has paid his dues to the party, and unbeknownst to many within the party. Coupled with the fact that he is a square peg in a square hole for the office, he has just been confirmed for. He has contributed to some sensitive and far reaching issues, for the party to have earned this nomination and confirmation,” TPL Adelugba concluded.
