Reconciliation with Fubara Long Overdue: Wike Fumes

In a definitive statement on Wednesday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ruled out any possibility of reconciliation with Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara. Speaking at a press conference marking his first year in office as FCT Minister, Wike emphasized his commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s agenda and his intention to focus on his current role, rather than addressing the ongoing rift with Fubara.

Wike and Fubara have been embroiled in a long-standing dispute since Fubara’s inauguration as governor. This conflict has notably impacted the Rivers State House of Assembly, leading to internal factions. Despite intervention efforts from Tinubu and other key political figures, the crisis remains unresolved.

Wike asserted, “I fought for Fubara to become governor with no regrets. If he chooses not to align with the group, that’s his decision. Just as Aregbesola was once supported by Tinubu but is no longer aligned with him, I am also moving forward without any intention of reconciliation. I prioritize the mandate given to me by President Tinubu and will continue to focus on that.”
