Unknown Gunmen Behead Police Inspector in Akwa Ibom State

Unidentified gunmen have brutally beheaded a Nigerian police officer identified as Inspector Osang in Akwa Ibom State. The gruesome incident unfolded on Wednesday night within the vicinity of Enen Afaha and Afaha Ube, suburbs of Uyo City.

According to reports from the scene, the assailants, yet to be apprehended, invaded Inspector Osang’s residence at approximately 8:30 p.m. Witnesses disclosed that the perpetrators forcefully entered the officer’s compound, creating chaos by firing shots indiscriminately to intimidate residents and passersby.

This unfortunate event marks the third killing reported in the area during the month of January. Prior incidents involved the beheading of a woman near the banking layout in Uyo and the discovery of a dismembered body, believed to be that of another female, found in a Ghana-Must-Go bag by the roadside in Nwaniba district.

Odiko Mac-Don, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and expressed his deep regret. He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, has promptly ordered a thorough investigation into Inspector Osang’s brutal murder. Mac-Don affirmed the commitment of the police force to apprehending the culprits responsible for these heinous acts.

“We have received that information, and it is an unfortunate situation. Already, the Commissioner of Police has ordered an investigation, and we are committed to ridding the streets of criminal elements. We are not deterred by the incident, but we are committed to ensuring that criminally minded persons will account for their actions,” stated Mac-Don.
