He has become centre point of meaningful discussions in town. He has so cut a huge figure that his name is now on the lips of both the political class and other conscious members of the public.

Suffice to say that for his ability to master and marshall the law, thus, creating a clear direction for justice, sources available have revealed that he: Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada is the choice of the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, to mount the rostrum of honour as the substantive Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Osun State. This is actually an indication that the Governor of the State knows what our esteemed Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada can bring to the table and which, of course, is nothing less than sanity to our long beleaguered justice system in Osun State. Hopefully, of course, his coming as the Governor has rightly seen it, will put an end to the dark era of miscarriage of Justice.

Going by this very singular revelation among many, it is, however, not an overstatement to conclude that the name of Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada has suddenly gone wild like the bush fire of a harmattan. Although, his emergence as Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice is subject to confirmation by the Osun State House of Assembly for which it keeps many hearing his name in suspense, but those who know his pedigree i.e the extent of the exploits he has made through his professional calling are not the least surprised of his being the Governor’s choice. They could only be expectant of how soon he would deploy his astuteness, firmness and legal sagacity to bring about tenable and practicable legal roadmap that would bring about sanity in the justice system of the state.

For clarity sake, i.e to clear those curious minds out there, and perhaps, refresh those minds that know but for the joy of it, wish for a retelling about this giant, Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada, here we go. He Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada, is a nationalist, politician, teacher and legal luminary whose impact on legal activities within and outside the country is worthy to behold. But for space constraints, summary would reasonably do justice to this essay.

Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada, was born in Ile-Ife, and he hails from the Royal Compound. So, through his noble birth, he is a Prince of the source. His grandfather Barrister Mofolusho Bada, who belonged to the hierarchy of the first generation of lawyers from Ile-Ife, during his time had contested the Ooni Royal stool with the then but now late Oba Okunade Sijuade. Now coming down to his father, Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada, is the scion of the Hon Justice Jimi Olukayode Bada, the presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal Lagos, a giant whose stride in the legal profession inspired legends.

Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada, from the very start cut the figure of one destined for Hall of Fame. His journey thus far, nonetheless, was one that took several routes, beginning from Ile-Ife where he started his education and bagged his first degree in law from the prestigious citadel of learning, the Obafemi Awolowo University, ile-ife, Osun State, Nigeria.

As years went by he rose to become one of the well-grounded and respected legal luminaries in the country. And he has continued in that trajectory. So, he has carved a niche for himself through dedication, self-determination, hardwork and commitment to service. He is someone who believes in upholding the values and tradition for which the law profession is revered. So, for his erudition and excellence while practicing in the temple of justice, he has had many laurels to his credit.

The same can be said of his political career. Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada’s transition into politics has played pivotal role in sustaining his political party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, where he brought his selflessness to the fore by working his finger to the bone to give a legal safeguard, thus, sustaining his pedigree in the league of celebrated legal minds.

Party politics and legal battles are close allies, so, over the years he has engaged in some legal fireworks, especially during the heated leadership tussle in the party. And in the course of this, he kept demonstrating his firm pledge and loyalty to his party. So, when it mattered the most, he threw his hat into the ring to battle for the soul of the party. And he has succeeded in helping to safeguard the territorial integrity of the party in the State. And all these he has done not for any percuniary gain—anyway not surprising for whom he is.

As such, pundits have begun to draw an imaginary line linking the position he is being projected for to many of his sacrifices for the party, which came at periods that are both thick and thin. Anyway any successful organization needs such a resolve as unwavering as his. In the actual sense, Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada has paid his due.

So, with respect to reports of his appointment as the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Osun State making the rounds, one must commend the Governor for towing this path of rewarding loyalty, while still beaming his searchlight on, genuine hardwork, capable breeds and outstanding personalities to hold public office. No doubt, Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada is a typical depiction of a round peg glued in a round hole in this regard. If his appointment eventually gets the needed confirmation from the Legislative Arm of Government as required by the extant law guiding such in the State, this would send a signal to the younger generation that hardwork pays.

For someone with his profile and accomplishment in the legal profession in this country, he still lives modestly. Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada keeps a relatively low portfolio until you encounter him in the court or in the circles where he operates. Yes, when it comes to discipline and action, he’s a hot soup in the legal profession that no one would scoop to lick in a hurry. By the mere mention of his name, a note of pride uncommon is exuded anywhere.

Finally—unassuming though—this illustrious, son of Ile-Ife can hardly hide successfully in his field and beyond. Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada personality-wise is as large as life—some even say larger—itself. Fully complemented with warmth, amiability and conviviality. In fact, he personifies them. He is definitely an enigma to behold. And his political party for the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Osun State he is reportedly being slated for is on a part to more glory.
